Charla Nash files lawsuit for chimp attack

Posted on April 5th, 2012 No Comments

Charla Nash, the woman who made national headlines after a friend’s pet chimpanzee viciously mauled her in 2009, has filed a lawsuit against the state of Connecticut. Nash is seeking $150 million in damages from the state environmental regulators for negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Nash claims state environmental officials are to blame for the attack because they knew the chimpanzee was dangerous and still allowed the woman to own it. If the lawsuit is allowed to proceed, it could set a significant precedent for future claims.

The case is currently being reviewed by the state attorney general’s office. If Nash wins the lawsuit, state taxpayers will have to pay the $150 million.
