Chicagoland elementary students attacked by dogs

Posted on December 19th, 2011 No Comments

Two dogs, a pit bull and a Pekingese, attacked elementary school students last week while the children were outside for recess. The dogs are believed to have escaped through an unlocked gate at a home not far from the school.

Thanks to fast-acting faculty members, the dogs were apprehended and did not seriously harm the two students they had knocked to the ground. A physical education teacher was able to pull a dog off a young boy by kicking it and then sitting on it until help arrived. A teacher’s aid was able to beat a dog off of a child with her shoe.

The dogs were taken to a shelter to be observed for the next 10 days. The owner received two citations for having dogs at large.
