Dog bites students during recess

Posted on May 3rd, 2013 No Comments

Four students of Grand Rapids Public Schools were recently bitten by a dog while on an afternoon recess.

According to a letter by Southwest Community Campus Principal Carmen Fernandez, the incident happened on the afternoon of April 30 when an unidentified breed of dog entered the playground and bit four students. All children were quickly moved inside the building by responding staff members, but the dog also managed to enter the building. The dog was then secured in an enclosed area before officials of Kent County Animal Control arrived at the school and took the dog to a local animal shelter for further investigation.

The students who were bitten were given necessary medical care, and their parents were immediately notified.

Unfortunate incidents like this happen in certain instances due to negligent dog owners. If you or someone you know has been bitten by a dog for this reason, contact Ravid & Associates, P.C., at 877-PET-BITE to discuss holding the irresponsible owner liable.
