Dog fighting ring busted in Flint

Posted on April 17th, 2012 No Comments

Last week the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department raided a dog fighting ring in Flint, rescuing several injured dogs and two puppies. Authorities suspect a 14 year-old boy was the ring leader but have yet to charge him.

Three of the 12 dogs rescued have been euthanized due to their extensive injuries. According to the sheriff, many of the dogs had deep bite marks, broken ribs, and could hardly walk on their own.

Police found fresh blood in their cages and box mattresses used to make an arena. However, four dogs have been returned to their owners due the lack of evidence of wrongdoing.

While certain dog breeds may be more naturally aggressive, dangerous behaviors can also be taught or encouraged. If you or someone you love has been attacked by a dangerous dog, contact the dangerous dog attorneys of Ravid & Associates, P.C., at 1-877-PETBITE today to find out how you can hold the owner accountable.
