Genesee County cracks down on dog licenses

Posted on June 26th, 2012 No Comments

If you are a dog owner in Genesee County, it is in your best interest to have your dog licensed before full-time Animal Control enforcement officers come knocking on your door.  This summer 18 city employees are planning on going to every door in the county ready to hand out tickets.

Genessee County is stepping up enforcement after allowing a two-week amnesty for dog owners who had not licensed their pet. More than 1,700 owners purchased licenses without the usual delinquent fees, M Live reports.

Enforcement officers will be writing court-appearance tickets, which can be dismissed if the owners show a rabies certificate and pay a $40 fee within ten days after receiving the ticket.

If you have been bitten by another person’s dog, it’s important to know the Michigan dog bite laws. Contact the experienced dog bite injury lawyers at Ravid & Associates, P.C. by calling 1-877-PET-BITE today.
