Michigan man pleads no contest for offense related to a dog attack

Posted on September 4th, 2013 No Comments

Twenty-nine-year-old Auburn, Michigan resident John LeBeau pleaded no contest to one count of having a dangerous animal causing serious injury (a four-year felony), plus a second offense of domestic violence on Wednesday, August 28 before Bay County Circuit Judge Harry Gill.

Bay County Assistant Prosecutor Jordan Case said he would recommend that LaBeau be incarcerated for only a year on the condition that he must give up his dog for destruction, he must not own animals while on probation, and he must pay the fine, of which the amount has yet to be determined. LeBeau is currently doing time at the Bay County Jail.

Twenty-four-year-old victim Drew Whaley was bitten by LeBeau’s dog, Rueger, several times on Sept. 23, 2012. Rueger also figured in a similar incident on June 2011 when LeBeau and Timothy Fisher had an argument at LeBeau’s house. No criminal cases were filed in that instance.
