Minnesota teen receives over $43K in dog bite case

Posted on May 11th, 2011 No Comments

A 16-year-old boy has been awarded $43,500 in a dog bite lawsuit after he was attacked by a St. Paul police dog.

The lawsuit claimed that the dog handler was negligent in allowing the dog to attack the then 13-year-old unprovoked. The boy’s mother filed the suit on his behalf and the city of St. Paul agreed to the settlement earlier this week.

The incident occurred when the boy was walking home on March 15, 2009 and was attacked from behind by the dog. The boy needed three stitches on his lip and 13 in his arm.
