Muskegon police shoot, kill attacking pit bull

Posted on July 3rd, 2012 No Comments

Muskegon police have shot and killed a third pit bull since April that was attacking or threatening a resident or officer. Last week an unlicensed pit bull approached a resident as he was walking to his car in the morning. The resident was able to retreat into his house unharmed.

Two officers came by the house after the man called authorities to report a dog on the loose. They tried to put a noose around the dog, but were unable to get close enough. One officer pepper sprayed the dog, but it lunged forward and bit his leg.

The other officer then shot the pit bull in the chest, killing it instantly. Its owner has yet to come forward, M Live reports.
