Owner bit by pet baby rattlesnake

Posted on December 5th, 2011 No Comments

An exotic pet owner is fortunate that his pet baby rattlesnake was only able to puncture him with one of its fangs when he was bit late last week. Baby rattlesnakes are considered more venomous than adult rattlesnakes because they are less able to control how much venom their bite produces.

The man is expected to make a full recovery, thanks to his friend taking him to the hospital immediately. Police officers were alerted by hospital staff about the bite and discovered two monitor lizards, an alligator, eight snakes (four of which were poisonous), and a fourteen-foot python at the man’s apartment.

All the animals had permits and were legally purchased. However, all the pets were confiscated and taken to the Philadelphia Zoo, where they will not be returned to the owner.
