Owner charged with animal abuse after dog attack

Posted on October 17th, 2011 No Comments

An Arizona woman has been charged with animal abuse after three of her twenty-six dogs attacked a high school cross-country team and its coach.

Last week, the team was out training around the neighborhood when the woman’s dogs got out of the yard as the students ran by. The dogs surrounded the students and then attacked them. The coach was also bitten. It is currently not known exactly how many students were injured.

Authorities charged the dogs’ owner with animal abuse, a Class D felony, for knowingly failing to provide adequate control or care of her twenty-six dogs. All the animals lived on her property. The woman has a previous animal abuse conviction from 2009.
