Pit bull who bit postman not going to be euthanized

Posted on August 1st, 2013 No Comments

A pit bull that bit a mail carrier on Thursday, July 25 as he was putting mail in the mailbox along the 100 block of Dunlap Street in Michigan City will not be put down, according to a Michigan City Animal Control officer.

The postman, who received 15 stitches for the bite wound he incurred, was attacked at around 11:21 a.m. The owner of the pit bill had recently received a citation for his dog prior to this incident, as it had previously bitten a child.

Michigan City Animal Control director Alijah Hunter said that as the dog is already deemed dangerous for having attacked people on more than one occasion, its owner must take out a $100,000 insurance policy, among other preventative actions.

If an animal has bit you or a loved one in Michigan and caused harm, our lawyers at Ravid & Associates, P.C., believe that the owner may be held legally and financially accountable. Discuss your legal options by dialing 877-PET-BITE today.
