Some basics on dog bite prevention

Posted on September 4th, 2013 No Comments

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), out of every 4 million Americans that dogs bite each year, one in four result in a serious injury. Of those that are bitten, the CDC also stated that it tends to be children who are bitten more often than adults. Unfortunately, the agency also said that more people are bitten by dogs that they know rather than stray dogs.

Although it is not always possible to prevent a dog bite, certain steps a person could potentially take include:

  • Do not taunt dogs, especially those that do not seem happy or friendly.
  • Keep away from dogs you are not familiar with.

Unfortunately, even when you take precautions, you might become the victim of a dog bite due to a dog owner’s negligence. If this is the case for you or a loved one in Michigan, call our lawyers from Ravid & Associates, P.C., by calling 877-PET-BITE.
