Trial to begin after fatal python attack

Posted on July 11th, 2011 No Comments

The owner of a python and the owner’s boyfriend are now standing trial for manslaughter and child neglect after the python killed a 2-year-old girl.

The two people were charged after they were accused of failing to keep the 8-foot-6 inch Burmese python from crawling into the bed of a 2-year-old child. The child was then strangled to death. If convicted of all charges, the couple could face 35 years in prison.

Harmful exotic pets can cause serious injury if they attack a person and especially if the victim is a young child. Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the child at this time.
