Two dogs attack retired fire captain

Posted on October 10th, 2011 No Comments

Two pit bulls that attacked a 67 year-old retired fire captain while he was jogging have been killed by police.

The attack happened around four in the morning. Law enforcement says the victim tried to fight off the dogs with a wooden stick, but when it broke the dogs went after him. Police found the man trying to scale a fence to get away from the pit bulls, but they pulled him down.

When one of the dogs walked into the road, an officer intentionally hit it with his cruiser to stop it from attacking. It later limped away and was caught by Animal Control; it died at an emergency animal hospital. The other pit bull continued to bite the retired captain. When it turned to the officer he shot it.

The man suffered severe wounds to his face, arms, torso, groin, and legs.
