Vicious attack may change area laws

Posted on January 16th, 2012 No Comments

A 10 year-old girl who lost part of her left arm and full function of her right when her neighbor’s pit bulls attacked her two years ago could change Georgia’s dangerous dog laws.

The 10 year-old girl spent two months in the hospital following the attack and has had 10 major surgeries on her arms. She attends weekly physical therapy and counseling sessions.

The neighbor and owner of the dogs that attacked the girl was found guilty of six misdemeanor charges and sentenced to 16 months in jail. The victim and her family believe owners of dogs who have violently attacked people should spend more time in prison.

However, Georgia state law only defines dangerous dogs as dogs who have already bitten someone. Two new bills to redefine the law have been proposed by the House Judiciary Committee.

If your child has been bitten by another person’s dog and you believe that the owner should be held liable for the attack, contact the Michigan child dog bite injury lawyers of Ravid & Associates, P.C., today at 877-PET-BITE.
