Woman awarded $1.26 million for dog attack

Posted on February 28th, 2012 No Comments

A Florida woman was awarded $1.26 million nearly five years after a dog permanently mangled her ankle.

The woman was at the Melbourne Dog Show when a 100 pound Akita she was walking past clamped down on her ankle and refused to let go. She says her foot was left dangling after the attack and has had five surgeries to correct the damage. The extent of her injuries forced doctors to shorten her leg by three inches.

During the trial, the jury discovered that the dog had bitten five people before attacking the plaintiff, including biting another woman on the ankle at another dog show.
