Woman’s death may have been caused by pet snake

Posted on October 3rd, 2011 No Comments

A 54 year-old woman from New York was found dead this past June from a possible snake attack. The woman’s boyfriend owned more than 75 pet snakes, 56 of which are venomous. When he found her dead inside their home with several snake bites, he told police that his African black mamba snake could have possibly bitten her.

Investigators are still looking into the woman’s death and are awaiting the coroner’s report as to whether she died from snake bites or a possible suicide by overdose. New reports show that she was diagnosed with depression and was seeking medical help at the time of her death. All the snakes were removed from the couple’s home the day after she died; police found that her boyfriend did not have permits for most of the reptiles.
